Solas Run and Walk for Life 2021

The Solas Cancer Support Centre Run and Walk for Life took place over the weekend of October 8th to 10th as a virtual event for the second year in a row. Over 2,400 participants took part around the City, County, Country and beyond.

Tracy McDaid, Manager of the Solas Cancer Support Centre soaked up the atmosphere over the weekend: ‘What an incredible weekend! Every year we are amazed by the support this event gets but this year the atmosphere was electric. We loved seeing our orange t shirts out and about and we really appreciate the huge wave of support this weekend’.

Chairperson Barry Monaghan explains what the event means to the charity: ‘During 2020 and the first 6 months of 2021 the charity was operating a virtual service, with in person services when restrictions allowed. We are now pleased to be fully open offering our wide range service to those affected by cancer, their family members, and carers in Waterford and the southeast. The Run and Walk for Life plays a huge part in funding these services each year and we are very grateful to everyone who took part’.

The free support services are available to those affected by cancer, their families and carers in the Waterford and the southeast. A wide range of services are available including, Counselling, Meditation, Yoga and Art Psychotherapy for children and adolescents.
