Launch of Dance for Life 2020

Dance lessons and rehearsals are well under way in preparation for the annual Dance for Life supporting the Solas Cancer Support Centre. Forty enthusiastic dancers are recruited, partnered up and are now learning their routines for the event taking place in the Theatre Royal n Friday 20th March 2020.

Tracy McDaid, Solas Cancer Support Centre Manager explains that this is one of the highlights of the yearly calendar of events: ‘We look forward to January each year as planning for the Dance for Life is something everyone really  enjoys getting involved in- the 40 dancers are all so enthusiastic and already we see how competitive they are!. We are very pleased to announce that Red Hat are the sponsor of the event and delighted to be partnering with the Red Hat team this year’.

Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of open source and enterprise IT solutions. The work in the Waterford site specialises in the research & development of Red Hat’s core products, from Operating System to cutting edge Container technologies and Cloud Computing.

Leigh Griffin, Engineering Manager with Red Hat explains: “We are delighted to get involved with the Solas Cancer Support Centre’s Dance for Life. The Solas Cancer Support Centre is such an unbelievable free service for the people of the South East that the staff in the Waterford site were happy to get behind any and all fundraising for this charity. Being in a position to sponsor this event will help raise awareness of Cancer support services not just within our area, but within our global workforce. Hopefully our backing will make a difference to someone going through a difficult journey and we are looking forward to playing a small part in this wonderful story.”

The Solas Cancer Support Centre provides free support services are available to those affected by cancer, their families and carers in the Waterford and West Waterford area. A wide range of services are available including Reflexology, Massage, Reiki, Counselling, Meditation, Yoga and Art Psychotherapy for children and adolescents.
