The Kube 2016
The Solas Centre Kube event took place on Saturday 18th June to a full house of over 500 supporters in the Woodlands Hotel.
The Kube was based on the concept of the popular ITV show and saw thirty six contestants take on tasks to test their physical ability, mental ability, intelligence and responsiveness. The winning contestant, Jon Walsh rose to victory to beat the Kube and kindly donated his prize money to the RNLI and the Waterford Animal Welfare. Jon will also get to celebrate his success in style on an exciting trip to a European City of his choice courtesy of Harvey Travel Waterford.
Dr Brian Creedon, Chairman of the Solas Centre, thanked everyone involved for their contribution to the event. “The support services provided in the Solas Centre would not be possible without the generosity of the community and events like these. Funds raised from the event will help to sustain our services and also extend our services in Dungarvan for the people of West Waterford.
“We would like to thank our brave contestants for stepping out of their comfort zones and taking on the Kube challenge on our behalf. They have been very active in their fundraising with the support of family, friends and sponsors. Thank you to our Kube headline sponsor Pro Floor. We are delighted to have Pro Floor’s support again, to our heat sponsors, contestant sponsors and all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes. Finally, a special word of thanks to Kim, Lucy, Betty and all the Solas volunteer team who helped to make this event possible.”
