Support video around exercise and nutrition while on endocrine therapies

The Solas Cancer Support Centre is pleased to present a 30 minute video that discusses issues around weigh gain while on endocrine therapies.  This informal panel discussion took place recently with Nutritionist Jemma Keogh, Dr Patricia Sheehan of WIT and was facilitated by Ada Kinneally, Solas Board member and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Oncology) in UHW.

From her daily interactions with past and present patients in UHW Ada knows the importance of the topics covered:

‘For most, life on Tamoxifen and other Endocrine Therapies for Hormone Positive Breast Cancer is very manageable but for some, early menopause can cause significant symptoms. In this video we discuss the issue of weight gain, why it happens, how to manage it and how to adjust to life on endocrine therapies’.

Ada is joined by Jemma Keogh who studied Nutritional Therapy at the Institute of Health Sciences and is currently a Master’s of Science Degree student, studying Advanced Nutrition and  Patricia Sheehan PhD,  a lecturer in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Waterford Institute of Technology having completed her PhD thesis titled “An Exercise Intervention for Cancer Fatigue”.
