Title: Research Assistant
Reporting to: Project Steering Group (including SOLAS Cancer Support Centre and The School of Health Sciences, South East Technological University, Waterford).

Project funded: The National Cancer Control Programme 2021
Project title: Dance Exercise Intervention for Cancer Survivors Evaluation (DEISE)
The Research assistant will support the South East Technological University, Waterford Research Team for the duration of the contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Taking direction from SETU Research Team and DEISE Steering Group
Assist the Research Team in all project related activities
Collect data for the study
Support data management and analysis systems
Maintain accurate records of all data, safeguarding confidentiality
Provide regular reports to the Project Steering Group
Assist in the writing up of reports/ academic papers
Qualifications:
Academic Qualifications
Essential
Relevant 3rd level Health related degree/ Community development / Exercise and health promotion / Nursing or equivalent.
Desirable:
Post Graduate degree Health Related / Community development / Exercise and health promotion / Nursing or equivalent.
Experience of implementing a range of research methodology.
Professional Qualifications
Essential: Not required
Desirable: Health related qualification
Experience
Essential: Research project experience; Experience working in health/social care setting
Desirable: Experience of working in cancer treatment or rehabilitation settings.
Specific knowledge and skills
Essential:
NVivo/ SPSS and mixed data management or equivalent research software package.
Appropriate desk-top research skills.
Desirable:
Experience of carrying out evaluation research.
Experience of outcome measurement and evaluation.
Report compilation skills.
Ability to carry out semi structured interviews.
Experience of facilitating research focus groups.
I.T. Skills
Essential: computer skills, Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint
Desirable: Use of IT software and skills to enhance the visual appearance and accessibility of information which will be communicated in a multi stakeholder environment.

Location:
This part time position offers a hybrid working model. Working from home along with locations that include the Solas Cancer Support Centre, the School of Health Sciences, SETU, Main Campus and SETU Arena, West Campus.
Salary and Duration:
The contract will commence from February 2023 for one year. Research Assistant Grade (SFI Scale) – 1st point 12 months.
This is a part time position, three days per week
