Solas Celebrates Fourth Anniversary in Dungarvan
The Solas Cancer Support Centre celebrates the fourth anniversary of the establishment of its Dungarvan/ West Waterford Service this week. Over this period the organisation is proud to have supported in excess of 500 families impacted by a cancer experience.
The Solas West Waterford service is based in The Alternative Health Clinic at 12 Main Street, Dungarvan, on Mondays, from 9am to 5pm. Resources of support are offered free of charge to anyone diagnosed with cancer, a family member or carer or any individual bereaved by cancer.
In celebrating this occasion Clare Shanahan, Client Services Co Ordinator, is keen to thank all the supporters of the service –‘we could not offer our services without the time, energy and enthusiasm of our team of volunteers, therapists, counsellors, funders and friends. We are so fortunate to have this wonderful body of people behind us and we thank each and every one of them’.
Board Trustee Peter Burke acknowledged with gratitude the huge support received from Orla Casey and Kevin Power, owners of the Alternative Health Clinic, over this time. ‘We have been so delighted over the last four years to be based in such a wonderful facility. This year we are proud to announce that the Solas Cancer Support Centre will take up occupancy of an additional room within the clinic on a full-time basis. This initiative reflects the commitment of the charity to develop and progress its service to meet the growing need within the community of West Waterford’.
Face to Face services were suspended temporarily because of COVID 19 but have now been re-established, with safety measures in place, since early August.
